Settling new villages

Soon, you'll want to expand your horizons by founding additional villages. This will greatly enrich your gameplay and open up entirely new strategic possibilities.

Every player begins the game with a single village. Upgrading its resource fields and buildings, as well as raiding nearby oases and inactive neighbors, is a good way to grow. However, nothing boosts your progress like founding additional villages. Settling new villages not only increases your resource production significantly, it also helps your kingdom gain a stronger presence in key areas of the map.

Training Settlers

Settlers are trained in either the Residence or the Palace, depending on which building you have:

  • Residence: Train 3 settlers at levels 10 and 20
  • Palace: Train 3 settlers at levels 10, 15, and 20

Each training requires an available expansion slot.  Settlers have an excellent carrying capacity of 3000 resources each, making them well-suited for establishing new settlements.

Requirements for Settling

To found a new village, you’ll need two things:

  • Culture Points
  • Three Settlers

Once these conditions are met, you're ready to expand your empire.

Choosing a Location

Your new village can be founded on any available tile that isn’t already occupied by another village, an oasis, or a natural obstacle like a mountain or lake. However, you should aim to settle within the borders of your kingdom. Only villages located inside your kingdom's influence can generate tribute and support your king’s or duke’s power.  Think strategically before choosing a location. Consider nearby oases, the distribution of resource fields, and your relationships with neighboring players.

Founding the Village

  • Open the map and choose a free location.
  • Click the tile to bring up the radial menu.
  • Select the wooden cartwheel icon to begin founding.

Once dispatched, your settlers will travel to the chosen location. If it's still unclaimed when they arrive, they’ll automatically found your new village. If someone else beats you to it, they’ll return home safely.

Note:

Before founding a village, always check:

  • The resource field layout (e.g., 4-4-4-6 or 15-croppers)
  • The availability of nearby oases
  • Your diplomatic situation in that area

Careful planning at this stage can give your empire a huge long-term advantage.
