Marketplace

Marketplace overview

The Marketplace is a building where you can trade resources. Upgrading it increases the number of merchants available.

Requirements: Main Building level 3, Warehouse level 1

TABLE OF CONTENTS

General information

The Marketplace allows you to exchange resources with other players or move them between your own villages. Upgrading the building increases the number of merchants available to you.

It offers several functions:

  • Sending, buying, and selling resources
  • Redistributing your own resources with the NPC merchant
  • Setting up recurring trade routes between your villages or to World Wonder villages (Plus Account only)
  • Viewing all merchant activities in the Merchants tab: outgoing, incoming, and returning

Merchant speed and capacity depend on your tribe:

  • Gauls: carry 750 resources, travel 24 fields per hour
  • Romans: carry 500 resources, travel 16 fields per hour
  • Teutons: carry 1000 resources, travel 12 fields per hour

Building a Trade Office increases how much your merchants can carry. On speed worlds, merchants automatically move faster and can transport proportionally more resources to keep trading efficient. For example, if the world runs at five times normal speed but troops only move twice as fast, your merchants will travel roughly twice as fast and carry about two and a half times more resources.

If your Marketplace is destroyed while you have active offers, those offers remain available and can still be accepted. Merchants will continue their trade as if the building were still standing, and reserved merchants stay reserved. Many players use this tactically to protect their resources, by creating trade offers before an attack and canceling them afterward to recover their goods safely.

Send

You can send resources to your own or other players’ villages if you have enough available merchants. Select the amounts and the target village. Use the list button to choose one of your own villages easily.

Sending to other players counts as gifting and is disabled for the first seven days after you join a world. During that time, you can only trade through offers.

The number next to the target shows how often merchants will repeat the shipment. The default is one. You can unlock automatic repetitions (50 Gold for the first, 25 Gold for the second).

Buy

The Buy tab lists all current offers.

Filter by the resource you want to receive and the one you will give.

Activate the 1:1 filter to show fair and better exchange rates.

Before accepting, check travel time and storage space. Accepted offers complete immediately and cannot be canceled.

During the first seven days of a game world, offers appear to other players with a random delay of up to one hour. This prevents players using multiple accounts from accepting their own offers too quickly. The “own kingdom only” restriction is also unavailable during this period.

Sell

In the Sell tab you can create trade offers.

Choose which resource you offer, how much, and what you want in return.

You’ll see the resulting rate and how many merchants the offer will need.

  • Trade rates can range between 1:2 and 2:1.
  • After creating an offer, merchants prepare it, and it becomes visible to others after about an hour.
  • Offered resources are stored safely in the Marketplace until accepted.

You can:

  • Set a maximum travel time (only players within that range can accept).
  • Restrict visibility to kingdom members only (unavailable during the first seven days).
  • Cancel any offer that hasn’t been accepted yet (resources return to your storage if enough space is available).

When an offer is accepted, merchants from both sides travel to exchange goods. Carrying capacity and speed depend on the tribe, and the Trade Office can increase the load.

NPC merchant

The NPC merchant allows you to instantly redistribute your resources at a 1:1 rate for 4 Gold. This is useful when you need a specific resource type to construct a building or train troops and don’t want to wait for trades or production. The merchant instantly balances your stored resources to match your needs.

The NPC merchant can also be used outside of the Marketplace, directly from building or troop-training screens:

Item Selection

Automatic exchange: If you already have enough total resources for the construction or training, an option appears labeled “Exchange resources automatically for 4 Gold.” Clicking it instantly redistributes your resources into the correct ratio and starts the action.

Item Selection

Manual exchange: You can also click “Manually adjusted resource exchange” to open the NPC merchant window with the correct ratios already filled in, giving you full control before confirming the trade.

Troop training: When training units, the NPC merchant button shows how many more troops you could train if you balanced your resources. In this case, the merchant does not automatically exchange the resources but helps you adjust them efficiently.

You can also lock one or two resources. Locked values stay fixed, while the other sliders adjust automatically. This helps you keep part of your resources untouched while balancing the rest.

Trade routes

With a Plus Account, you can create automatic trade routes to your own villages or to World Wonder villages.

Define the resources, the amount, and the destination.

In the merchant schedule you can set one or more start times during the day.

The system automatically takes travel time into account. Routes continue even while you’re offline.

In the app, tap the hour to set the time.

Merchants

This tab shows all merchant movements: outgoing, incoming, and returning.

It displays destinations, carried resources, and arrival times.

You can also instantly complete trades to your own villages here.

Vacation mode

While in vacation mode:

  • Sending to and receiving from other players is disabled.
  • Buying and selling on the marketplace are disabled.
  • Trade routes and stolen goods continue unaffected.
