Diplomacy
Diplomacy defines the relationships between Kingdoms and Kingdom Unions. It is managed exclusively by the King.
It covers three types of diplomatic relations: Confederacy, Non aggression pact and War. These relationships directly affect combat, reinforcement options and how borders are displayed on the world map.
Confederacy
A confederacy is the closest form of cooperation between two Kingdoms or two Kingdom Unions. Confederated partners are shown with green borders on the world map.
A confederacy always implies non aggression. There is no need for an additional non aggression pact.
Restrictions and rules
A confederacy follows strict rules:
- A confederacy is only possible between two Kingdoms or two Kingdom Unions
- Each Kingdom or Kingdom Union can only have one confederacy at a time
- A Kingdom cannot have a confederacy and a non aggression pact at the same time
If a Kingdom joins a Kingdom Union or is dissolved, existing confederacies are automatically ended.
After a confederacy ends, a cooldown applies before a new confederacy can be formed. The remaining cooldown is shown in the Diplomacy tab in the Kingdom menu and in the Offer treaty pop-up.
The length of the cooldown scales with the speed of the gameworld. On 1x speed gameworlds, the cooldown lasts 3 days.
Effects of a confederacy
A confederacy extends the reinforcement options between its members.
- Confederacy between Kingdoms: members can send reinforcements to each other’s villages
- Confederacy between Kingdom Unions: members can only send reinforcements to each other’s Wonders of the World
Villages and oases cannot be defended between Kingdom Unions.
Reinforcements can be sent immediately after a confederacy starts. When a confederacy ends, all stationed troops are sent back to their origin and new reinforcements are no longer possible.
Attacking a player from a confederated Kingdom is still possible, but a clear warning message is shown before sending the troops.
Even after a confederacy ends, former members cannot conquer each other for a limited time. This protection exists to prevent abuse through short term diplomatic changes.
Non aggression pact (NAP)
A non aggression pact, usually called NAP, is an agreement between two Kingdoms not to attack each other. Kingdoms with a NAP are shown with blue borders on the world map.
A NAP does not allow military support. Sending reinforcements is not possible.
Attacking a player from a Kingdom with a NAP will trigger a warning message. Such attacks usually break diplomatic agreements and may have political consequences.
If a confederacy is formed between the same partners, the NAP is automatically replaced.
War
In a war, Kingdoms or Kingdom Unions openly fight each other. Enemies are displayed with red borders on the world map.
During a war, there are no restrictions on attacks or conquests and no warning messages are shown.
Wars do not grant any protection period after they end.
